Our repertoire consists of traditional songs from central Slovakia (regions of Terchová, Podpoľanie, Liptov, Horehronie, and Tekov). Occasionally, we also use traditional melodies from Poland or Hungary.
Unlike in a typical folk violin band, where first fiddle is played by the violin, the most important instruments in our band are traditional flutes: koncovka - a six-hole flute, fujara - a shepherd's flute, and Slovakian bagpipes. The violin, violoncello and accordion are just backing instruments. Our rhythm instruments are the ozembuch - a staff topped with a bow with rattles, Jew's harps, but also the African drum djembe, and many other rhythm instruments.
It is obvious that our music is not strictly traditional. Traditional melodies are kept unchanged in our songs, but we are not afraid of using untraditional instrument combinations, as well as traditional instruments from various parts of the world. When creating music, our main criterion is our own satisfaction with the final product and the persuasion that the music we create really lives.
When we play the fujara trio, the songs reflect folk traditions the most. On the other hand, we also play Jew's harp trio that we consider to be our most experimental piece of music.
